The Happiest of Happy Hours

Or, we scheduled a Blue Highway Advisory weekday party right in the middle of DC’s summer doldrums, and people came..!

The very best business conversations usually don’t happen in the most expected of places, like boardrooms – they can happen over a drink, or, in our case, a themed blue cocktail of our own recipe, in the company of genuine people.

Last Thursday evening, the Blue Highway Advisory team was truly delighted to host our inaugural quarterly Happy Hour at the Dirty Habit Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge in the very heart of downtown DC’s legal office stronghold, convenient to law firms big and small, news bureaus and network TV studios, and some Federal agency functions alike.

What started out as a bit of an anxious moment, as this was our first attempt at dragging people away from their workplaces, quickly blossomed into a rewarding evening of authentic conversations, newly minted friendships, renewals of some old acquaintances, and the sharing of inspiration and new ideas.

It was, in short, the beginning of what are certain to become many lasting relationships. And we came to quickly discover, a newly crafted electric blue cocktail, cheekily named “The Blue Diligence,” drew many curious and eager souls to the event.

Blue Highway Advisory’s business has, since our humble inception just four years ago, been built on the notion of trust-before-transactions. Before the strategy, the headlines and the negotiations, there are people. That’s where we always choose to begin, and once an engagement has ended successfully, the same people remain, bonded by shared experience and mutual respect.

That sense of camaraderie was palpable over roughly three hours of drinks and nibbles during the most mild, temperate and inviting evening DC has seen in weeks. Even with so many people taking the time to get themselves out of town for their summer breaks, attendance was brisk and conversation flowed.

And thus, we’re emboldened. This went so well that we’ll be doing it again (in October, again at Dirty Habit, date TBA).

We’ll even shake up or stir a new, proprietary cocktail recipe for the cooler fall climate.

Thank you to everyone who joined and helped us make our very first gathering so memorable. We can’t wait to see you again.
